Vermont Castings Catalyst Guide

Prior to ordering a new catalyst for your Vermont Castings woodstove, remove the old catalyst and verify the dimensions to ensure that you are ordering the correct size. Note: The dimensions of Condar catalysts may differ slightly from the existing catalyst in your stove. Keep in mind that unless these dimensions differ significantly, stove performance will not be impacted.

What Our Customers Are Saying:

"Our new Condar catalyst performs better than the original one that came in our Defiant stove. We've seen a huge improvement in heat output, and Condar was very easy to work with." -Sherry & Bill Kerr; Rockford, Michigan

"I commend Condar for their excellent customer service. And I found their website to be very helpful and informative about catalysts." -Steven Bezdek; Haslett, Michigan

"After installing a new STEELCAT Catalyst in my Encore, I've noticed that my stove stabilizes at a lower temperature, so it's no longer necessary to make the room too hot. Now I'm getting longer burn times, and using less wood!" -Brendan Smith; Santa Rosa, California

"Having owned three Vermont Castings Defiant catalytic stoves over the past 30 years, I can state that the STEELCAT is by far the best catalyst I've ever owned. It does everything Condar states, heating up MUCH faster than any of the OEM catalysts. We immediately found that we are using less wood due to longer burn time." -Scott Taetsch; Gleason, Wisconsin

Canned Catalysts and Gasket

All these stoves use "canned" catalysts, that is, they are banded first in expanding CatGard gasket and then in stainless steel. Canned catalysts generally do not need additional gasket, but our 6-inch round CC-001 comes wrappped with extra gasket outside the can at no extra charge. If your catalyst needs extra gasket between the catalyst and the stove, order additional gasket here.

Notes

We market replacement catalysts and CatGard gasket, but do not offer other replacement parts.
